Naomi is a current Ph.D. student in the Penn State Cooperative Wetlands Center who works closely with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) to evaluate the condition and development of mitigation and restored wetlands throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Prior to beginning her degree program at Penn State, Naomi conducted wetland delineation work throughout the northeast, including the states of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. As part of this work she established jurisdictional wetland boundaries in the field, prepared permit applications, conducted endangered species and habitat surveys and participated in the preparation of several environmental impact statements. She also supervised the construction of several mitigation wetlands, as well as performed annual monitoring of existing mitigation wetlands.
During her work in Hawaii and Texas, Naomi participated in two entomologically focused research projects. These provided her with the ability to identify a variety of macro- and micro-invertebrates as well as extensive pinning and microscope expertise.
